In the never ending crusade to encourage kids to read, Canine Comprehension are getting involved with local bookstores, animal charities and fairs and holding reading corners. The concept began when I took an hour off work to sit down and read a good book. Lying down, in the sunshine, on the grass, book in hand was made all the better when Minnie and Oscar dropped down next to me. Now we were all enjoying quiet time, with a good book. I want children to be able to have such moments. So I am setting up Dogs & Books Reading Corners. Myself, Minnie and Oscar set up picnic runs, pillows and books at spots outside bookstores, in local fairs and family days where kids can grab a quality children's book, sit with a dog and spend some time reading and chilling out.
My first one is going to be at: Rainy Day Books, 1301 Mountain Highway, The Basin. on 25 April - Anzac Day!
I'll let you all know how it goes... Better still, come down and grab a book.
