Mini has over 15 years experience as an educator in early childhood settings. She has had the privilege of supporting children with a range of abilities access education and care by working collaboratively with families and health care professionals. As a mother herself, Mini is passionate about ensuring all children are supported to engage in learning in a way that benefits and motivates them. Her goal is to help students develop social skills and emotional resilience as well as practice mental health strategies so that they can better manage life’s challenges.
After completing a certificate III in Community Services, Mini has volunteered in a number of roles and settings to support children and youth at risk. It was in one of these settings that she first recognised the benefits of animal assisted therapy and activities. Since that time she has had a strong desire to combine her love of dogs and education. With this in mind she was delighted to have found her dream role as a tutor for Canine Comprehension.
Victor the Mini Poodle is a graduate Lead The Way Institute after completing an intensive therapy dog training course with his human, Mini. The pair have worked as a team to teach children about dog safety in early childhood settings. It is always an exciting time when Victor comes to visit and it’s wonderful to watch the kids develop confidence as they engage with him and practice dog handling and training. Victor loves all the attention and especially enjoys any opportunity to show off his slide skills and zoomies.
