A Day in the Life of Bubbles - a Canine Comprehension Therapy Dog working with individual students.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to spend a day in the paws of a Canine Comprehension therapy dog? From classroom visits to home sessions, these furry companions bring joy, comfort, and unique learning opportunities to students of all ages. Whether it's a lesson on empathy or a chance to practice reading aloud, our therapy dogs are always there to lend a paw.

Morning Greetings and Classroom Visits

As the school day begins, therapy dogBubbles eagerly awaits her first classroom visit with mentor Dan. Today, Bubbles and Dan had the pleasure of meeting Finn, an outstanding young man with a wealth of knowledge and a passion for animals. Bubbles and Finn immediately hit it off with his teacher's introduction, bonding over treats and games. Bubbles feels a sense of contentment and excitement as she interacts with Finn, her tail wagging in delight at the genuine connection they share. As they spend time together on the grass, Finn's calm demeanour and affectionate gestures make Bubbles feel relaxed and valued, enhancing their positive school experience.

Midday Walks and Outdoor Adventures

In the next session for the day, Bubbles and her owner, Mentor Dan, enjoy outdoor adventures with their student Sammy. Despite some hesitation due to the cold weather, Sammy recognised the importance of honouring promises and building trust (Last week, Sammy promised Bubbles a walk in the park). Despite Sammy's tendency to void commitments, Bubbles' patience and understanding create a safe space for him to express himself , which helps him enjoy playful activities of hide and seek.  After their games, they sit on a picnic rug while practising mindfulness. Their shared laughter and companionship create a warm and inviting atmosphere, fostering a sense of well-being and connection.

Afternoon Engagements and Learning Moments

Andrew is Dan and Bubble's last student for the day.  Andrew is learning to respect Bubbles's boundaries while enjoying outdoor activities in Andrew's backyard. They play running races, and Andrew tries to guess who will win. These interactions foster positive relationships and create a supportive atmosphere where students feel valued and understood . After Andrew has run around with Bubbles, he feels comfortable sitting with Dan and chatting about his day while patting a sleepy Bubbles. These conversations allow Andrew to discuss his worries and overcome concerns with the support of Dan and Bubbles.
