Last chance to book Canine Comprehension programs for term 2

Hi Educators,

Now that schools have transitioned from fully remote back to in-person classes, the problem of teacher time has reached epic proportions. Many schools have gone full speed ahead, trying to recover as much “learning loss” as possible. There are more assessments, documentation, and data analysis.

Educators are in a constant state of stress & anxiety, and the best of their knowledge, experience, and passion has been put to the limit.

It can often feel insulting to have leaders give lip service to self-care while upholding conditions that chip away at mental health. Teachers require more:

  • Time
  • Support
  • Understanding

The Canine Comprehension therapy dog programs support young people and their school community psychologically, emotionally, mentally and physically. The presence of a dog increases our oxytocin, dopamine and serotonin levels, helping students self-regulate, concentrate and feel more optimistic.

These benefits impact many aspects of a child's life, including school attendance, a willingness to join in, resilience, positive relationships, connection to community, self-awareness and empathy.

Funding may be available through School Focussed Youth Services & The School Mental Health Fund.
